MAMA: Making Mothers Visible Barcelona

The International Museum of Women’s Making Mothers Visible Barcelona global pop-up photography project in Barcelona, Spain took place on Sunday, May 13. Mothers, midwives, and community members witnessed the public art installation in progress as volunteers installed more than 40 large-scale photographs of mothers and midwives outside of 8 Marc Plaza in Barcelona. The images installed are included in the above slideshow, with quotes from each woman about her experience of motherhood and pictures documenting the installation. The day included fun activities for kids and remarks from Eva Vela, President of the Catalan Association of Midwives, who read the Midwife Manifesto.
