This video was created for IMOW's MAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe exhibition. Winnie is a single teen mom who lives in a small, floorless shack in a neighborhood outside Monrovia, Liberia, called Chicken Soup Factory. She was 13 years old when she became pregnant; she is now 16. She dropped out of school, is no longer with her boyfriend, and has been abandoned by her own mother who went to work in a mine. Winnie is struggling to raise her son, Belesed, with very little support. She doesn’t see much of a future for herself or her son because of their dire poverty.
